Dry Bags for Gorge Waking

Canyoning in Wales is a wet and wild sport.  Sometimes you will have to walk for a bit before even getting to the canyon.  It’s best if you wear your normal clothes for the initial walk, then change into your wet suit when you’re ready to jump in.  So what do you do with all your clothes, first aid kit, lunch?   That’s right, chuck it in a dry bag. Here’s our thoughts on dry bags for canyoning.

They’re designed to protect your contents from rain and submersion.  But they are not intended for long-term immersion.  If you’re bringing electrical equipment canyoning, then you should double bag it, and maybe use a zip lock freezer bag.

Drybags are usually made from coated nylon or PVC with welded seams.  They have a range in volumes from the small few liters to sixy or more liters.   Most drybags use a roll-top closing system and have rings on both sides for attached a shoulder strap.

Packing the dry bag.

When packing the dry bag, try to put the heavy and hard items in the centre and surround them with soft items.  This will protect the waterproof lining.

We suggest you don’t over fill your dry bag as there must be enough room to roll the top clip 3 times then fasten securely.
